Alright, Other than the venue and the flower, what else I need?

Yes, A wedding cake.
I personally loves chocolate wedding cake, just the fact that I don’t like traditional white icing wedding cake. There’s few places I have looked up for wedding cake.
- Noisette Pastry
http://noisette.ca/
I heard their cake is very delicious, but its’ too bad when I called that they are already booked up on Aug 8th
- Marmalade Cake Company
http://www.marmaladecakecompany.com/
I heard some rave review from this place, and same thing, when I called, they are booked up too
- Shirley’s Sweet Creation
http://www.shirleysweetcreations.com/
I heard this place is pretty good too, then again, it’s all booked
- The Wedding Cake Shoppe
http://www.theweddingcakeshoppe.com/
I actually found this place under toronto.com listing, and yes, she’s AVAILABLE, WOOT! Let’s just see if her cake taste good as the look.
- Dufflet Pastry
http://www.dufflet.com/
I am always a fan of Dufflet’s work, however, I am not a big fan of their wedding cake design. lol
I think if wedding cake shoppe doesn’t work out, then I guess I’ll call up dufflet to see if I can get a cake from there
I also gathered a collection of the cake photos I found online, feel free to download them. However, I did not take those photos so please give a credit to those who actually took those pictures.

I guess the next thing after we have decided the reception, it’s flower and decorations.
The Balmoral room’s color is tend to be yellowish, and the door and the framing around the place is tend to be in dark brown. So I guess my best move with the color would be White as main color, and have orange, yellow and either light green or blue as an accent.
Right now my thing about flower is, I LOVE Orchids, Lilies and Calla Lilies. I think they are soo sophisticated and beautiful.
There’s couple things I have to get from a florist:
1. Centrepieces for my guest dinner table
2. Centrepiece for my head table
3. My bouquet
4. My bridesmaid’s bouquet
5. Flower pin for my parents and Alex’s parents
6. Flower pin for Alex’s best man
7. Wedding ceremony flower decoration
8. Flower decoration piece for the sweet table (probably reuse from the wedding ceremony
hmm., and what else? can’t think of anything right now. I will update later.
I actually put together an insipiration piece in terms of flowers that I found online. Feel free to download it and use it as your inspiration piece too.

After going through like 7 places and tons of phone call. We decided to have Old Mill Inn as our reception venue.
Old Mill Inn is situated near Humber River and it’s right next to Old Mill Subway station on Bloor-Danforth Line subway. The reason we choose this place is because..
- The price is reasonable and you get 5 hours of open bar!!
- The place is located right next to subway, easy access and plenty of space for those who wish to drive.
- Old Mill Inn’s style is very victorian-ish and yet very elegant and nice
- Awesome place to take pictures over summer because its garden and the fact that the whole place is landscapped!
Here’s a closer look of the room

The only thing about this room is .. there’s no window!! arghh!!
here’s also the spec of the Balmoral room if you are interested. The room fits up to 100 people I think, but I only have 60 people on my list, so I guess there will be plenty of room to walk around

When you start planning the wedding, first thing that pop up in mind is… WHERE IS THE WEDDING??
well, our ceremony is fairly easy, we decided to have our ceremony at Toronto CityHall. So one phone call, Done!
Now, Wedding Reception, where is it gonna be?
We looked up couple places
1. Metropolitan Hotel in Toronto
-we originally wantted there, but I realize the room is a bit too big for 60 people, and the price is not the cheapest in the world
2. Thompson Landry Gallery in Distillery District
-Beautiful gallery in the district, but after looking up all the quote from the caterer, now I really have to rethink it.
-why? Because to get a caterer to cater a place that is not “restaurant-oriented”, you are paying for those:
Seriously.. it’s too much!! too much!! Like we are spending 20K in a event for just 60 people? that’s just ridiculas!
3. Fairmont Royal York
It’s another hotel on Front street. It’s fairly luxurious, but they have fairly decent menu with pretty good pricing, so we’ll go check it out this friday
This is Royal york’s wedding package
- packaged dinner range from $185 to $210 (taxes and gratituity included)
4. Pantages Hotel
It’s fairly new and modern hotel compare to Royal York or Metropolitan, so I am going to check this out later too
This is Pantages Hotel Wedding Package
5. Old Mill Inn
Apparently alot of people got married here because it’s victorian housing and humber river surrounding..
I am going to take a look of this as well. I got the wedding packages here from Old Mill. It’s a good pricing.
The wedded couple get to stay in their room for half price, and then 15% off for the guests..

If I had enough time before my wedding, I would totally get my wedding dress on Ebay.
After going to 5 wedding dress stores, all the dresses started to look the same for me
I had a particular look of the dress in mind, so it didn’t take too long to find one.
Anywayz, here’s the list of wedding dress stores that I had been in the past weekend.
Vogue Sposa Bridal Boutique
304 Danforth Ave., Toronto
(416) 466-8884
Mon, Tues, Fri & Sat: 10am to 6pm Appointments Preferred
-high end wedding boutique store, it’s a price tag that goes above my budget (most of the dress in there are over 1000 CDN)
The Dressroom
http://www.beckersbridals.com/
269 Danforth Ave.
416.466.6842
-Very reasonable pricing (average under 1K, but not much brand name wedding dresses)
Backers Bridals & Formal
http://www.beckersbridals.com/
387 Danforth Ave.
416.463.6601
-highend pricing (average over 1K!)
Taipei Love Forever
http://www.taipeiloveforever.com/
175 West Beaver Creek, Unit#1&2, Richmond Hill
905.709.0516
-This is a wedding all-inclusive package company owned by Taiwanese. They rent out and sell the dresses. Reasonable pricing (nothing goes above 1300, and goes as low as 450). This is the place that I tried on the dress that I liked… however I didn’t get the dress here.
Best For Brides
http://www.bestforbrides.com
566A Sheppard Ave. West
1.877.373.7702 (toll free)
-Awesome pricing, and you can even bargain the pricing to have the GST and hemming included. The store is actually on top of another store near the corner of Bathurst and Sheppard Ave. Extremely small, and the staff are too buzy to help you as well. However, I found the exact same dress that I tried on at the Taipei Forever, and the dress is 300 dollar cheaper!! So I end up buying the dress here!
Ritche
http://www.ritche.com/
1662 Avenue Road
416.463.6601
-highend pricing (average over 1K!)
-Awesome services, you get a change room of your own, and you get a representative bringing you dresses of your liking.
and.. here’s my dress, enjoy
